There’s something undeniably special about breathing new life into a Classic Mini — especially when the result puts huge smiles on the faces of the owners. That was the case recently when we welcomed a beautiful White Mini - Clubman Cabriolet into the Mini Sport workshop.

In fact, it all began with a phone call — and ended with a completely transformed car. As part of our service, we arranged to collect the Mini directly from the customer’s home in York and bring it to our workshops. From there, the transformation began.

The Work: Performance Meets Precision

The owner booked in for a full health check, suspension upgrade, and service — with a rolling road tune-up included as part of the job — and our expert team got straight to it.

Step One: A Full Workshop Inspection — Finding the Root of the Problem

When the Mini Clubman Cabriolet first arrived, the owner mentioned it wasn’t running quite right — something just felt “off.” So before we touched a single part, we carried out a comprehensive inspection.

From the suspension and brakes to engine components and timing, our technicians took a deep dive to pinpoint the underlying issues.

It didn’t take long to see the full picture:

• The suspension setup had become tired and inconsistent

• The engine needed an oil and filter service and tune-up

• Fuel mixture and ignition timing were out of sync

This thorough checkup gave us a clear roadmap — and ensured every fix we made directly addressed the Mini’s running and handling issues.

These enhancements gave the Mini tighter handling, a smoother ride, and far more confidence on the road.

Oil and Filter Service:

After a thorough engine inspection, we performed an oil and filter service to ensure this Mini continues to run at its best. This included draining the old oil and replacing it with fresh Castrol XL 20w50 – a high-quality classic engine oil that's perfectly suited to the needs of older Minis. We also fitted a new spin-on oil filter (pre-’97 type) to help protect the engine from harmful debris and maintain clean oil circulation.

The Drive Home: “A Game Changer”

Once the work was completed, the owners made the trip to collect their freshly upgraded Mini — and their message afterwards said it all:
